To become a volunteer surf lifesaver, join Nippers, or to become involved with the administrative side of a surf club, you first need to become a member. Broadly the categories for membership are Adult members, Junior members or Social members. Tathra SLSC has nine membership categories dependent on age and proficiency.

Volunteer surf lifesavers that patrol our beach wearing the red and yellow hold their Bronze Medallion or a Surf Rescue Certificate. Each year they update their proficiency. Once you hold your Bronze Medallion you can train to become the driver or crew person of the Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB). We encourage members to also undertake their Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (ARC).

Professional Lifeguards patrol many beaches up and down the coastline of NSW, especially on weekdays throughout summer when volunteer lifesavers are not on patrol. These patrollers wear blue and white.

All adult members are encouraged to become involved in the running of the Club and be an active part of the Tathra SLSC Committee. Elections are held every year at the Annual General Meeting. The committee positions are varied – it takes all manner of skills and talents to keep a Club running. If you are interested in helping, contact us. Committee meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of every month at the Club House.
